Afropolis 2023

Creative Technologist 

Afropolis is a body-mind-spirit co-creative collective spearheaded by creative innovator Qudus Onikeku. It facilitates social interaction and community engagement through hybrid media and dance experiences. It emphasizes the use of design thinking and digital technology to convey new methods of professional engagement for the Performing Arts. 

Afropolis 2023, held at the 20th Biennale de la danse de Lyon, brought together international artists, scholars, technologists, and thinkers to co-create under its Afrofuturist adventure, “Out Of This World.” The two week event challenged collaborators to build a time-based sonic and scenographic installation outside the parameters of societal hierarchies, exploitation, and colonization. 

Heidi served as creative technologist for the convening. The culmination being immersive multimedia presentations, performances, and a live closing party that lifted dance from the stage to the audience.
